B & B:
Betse Green and Bill Cernansky are longtime veterans of the Portland improv scene, but they've been married even longer--since 1989. They are both members of Portland ComedySportz as well as long form supergroup Peachy Chicken. They have recently played at the Juneau ASIF Preview show, New Orleans Comedy Arts Festival and IF Cincy and have performed around the Country at other festivals with several improv troupes. Bill and Betse are patient improvisers who trust each other completely, and it shows.
Playing as a duo, B&B focus on what they know best: relationships. Their signature format is the Revolver, in which the players are free to steal each other's characters after they have been established. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye*. It's still all fun and games after that.
Chairs:
Melissa McNamara and Gavin Donnellan present "Chairs", a fully
improvised piece that uses spacial awareness as the conduit to develop
content. Given only 2 chairs to play with, the players weave in and out
of scenes dictated by the distance and formation of these sole props in
an otherwise empty space. Where the chairs are the foundation, the
relationship between the two, McNamara and Donnellan, as
improvisers and as characters that fully embody this space, is at the
heart of each performance. They open with dualogues inspired from the
audience’s suggestion and transition seamlessly into moments built on
space, timing and movement. At times quirky, and other times, heartfelt,
the piece bookends itself with the original duologue to create a
cohesive theatrical event. Chairs has been seen at the Milwaukee comedy Festival, Chicago improv Festival, Vancouver International Improv Festival, Big Little Comedy Fest and more. Melissa and Gavin can also be seen in "The Studio" a new web series out in 2016.
