House Managers Wanted (PAID!)

Chicago Improv Festival (CIF) is hiring house managers for CIF20.

Chicago Improv Festival’s mission is to create opportunities for improvisers from around the world to showcase their diverse perspectives and abilities to Chicago audiences and the local improv community, while also encouraging fellowship utilizing our passion for the improvisational performing arts as a common language.

This year's festival will be from March 28-April 2, 2017. Paid!

Responsibilities:

- Be at your scheduled venue on time (at least one hour before the performance time slot)
- Meet with venue contact person, which should be the person at the box office
- Make sure improv teams touch base with you upon arrival
- Make sure teams needs are met (knowing where green room is, bathrooms, stage, chairs, etc.)
- Introduce teams to lighting board operator and host
- Provide host with CIF announcements
- If there is any CIF Camera equipment provided, secure CIF equipment after the show and bring to the office/afterparty
- Please be attentive and "stay on your feet" should anything happen
- Work with the venue in respecting their space and audience

Skills & Qualifications:
• Professionalism and confidence
• Great communication & proven reliability
• Ability/comfort to escalate communications to producers/venue manager to mitigate issues
• improv experience, preferred

Light Board Operators Wanted (PAID!)


Chicago Improv Festival (CIF) is hiring light board operators for CIF20.

Chicago Improv Festival’s mission is to create opportunities for improvisers from around the world to showcase their diverse perspectives and abilities to Chicago audiences and the local improv community, while also encouraging fellowship utilizing our passion for the improvisational performing arts as a common language.

This year's festival will be from March 28-April 2, 2017. Pay to be determined based on venue and number of shows that are tech'ed. 

Responsibilities:
The light board operator is responsible for controlling the lighting and sounds before, during and post show. He/she participate in the light check held before each performance.
The light board operator attend 1 technical meeting with production manager prior to event. 
On performance days, the light board operator’s call is usually 2 hour before curtain time, to perform a tech check and pre-show duties. 
LBO duties include, but are not limited to:
Pre-show:
-start or set up any equipment
-knowledge of the running order and running times for performers
-open communication with the house manager
-meeting with the performers to review any technical needs during the show and confirm running time
-light check and sound check
-start house music then open house for seating 30 mins before top of show
During show:
-operating lights and sound as communicated by the production manager and performers
-track and enforce performer running times
-track running time of the entire show
Post-show:
-turn off and/or strike any equipment
-return equipment and running times to the production manager
 

Skills & Qualifications:
• 1+ year of LBO experience
• Great communication & proven reliability
